Fabulous news — you’ve got a showing request! That means someone is picturing your home as the one, and we’re one step closer to SOLD. To make sure your home leaves a strong impression, here’s a quick checklist to help you prepare before every showing. These little things can make a BIG difference!
Buyers expect your home to look like the listing — so aim for clean, tidy, and staged. Think: dishes put away, counters cleared, and no surprise tumbleweeds of pet hair.
Keep it polished and bright by closing all toilet lids and opening all curtains and blinds. Natural light is your best friend!
Turn on all the lights before you leave, even in closets and bathrooms. It creates a warm, welcoming feel!
Store away anything valuable like jewelry or prescription meds — or take them with you. Same goes for personal mail and bills; buyers don't need to know who owns your home.
Be sure to disable alarm systems and lock up when you leave. The buyer’s Realtor will access the home using the lockbox key and will lock up when they leave.
Showings typically last 15–30 minutes, but they may run longer — especially if the buyer likes what they see (that’s a good sign!). Try to leave 15 minutes early and plan to stay away for 45–60 minutes.
We all love our furry family members, but not all buyers do. If possible, bring pets with you or crate them if they’re calm and used to strangers.
Selling your home is a team effort, and showings are a huge part of the journey. With just a little prep before each one, you can help potential buyers fall in love from the moment they step inside.
