1. Four Dances Trail

A local favorite that offers sweeping views of the Yellowstone River and downtown Billings. It’s a short and sweet loop (about 2.5 miles) with big payoffs in every direction. Pack a picnic and take in the rim views!
2. Zimmerman Park
📍 Top of the Rims
This area is a maze of trails with stunning cliffside views and big sky vibes. Great for sunset hikes, dog walks, and trail running. Every time you go, it feels like a new trail.
3. Phipps Park
📍 West End, near Laurel Road
If you're into unique rock formations, desert-style landscapes, and wide-open views—Phipps is your place. The 2-3 mile loop has some incline but nothing too wild. Bonus: It’s usually quiet!
4. John H. Dover Memorial Park
📍 East Billings
This one flies under the radar, but it's a beautiful, peaceful space along the Yellowstone River. You'll find cottonwoods, birdwatching opportunities, and wide open space. Perfect for a slow, meditative walk.
5. Acton Recreation Area
📍 Northwest of Billings
A bit more rugged and remote, this BLM land has over 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Great for a day trip if you're craving a bit more solitude and adventure.
6. Lake Elmo State Park Loop
📍 Heights
A flat, easy loop that circles the lake—about 1.3 miles around. It’s a lovely morning walk with your coffee or an evening stroll with the pup. Bring your swimsuit if you’re feeling bold!
7. Two Moon Park Trail
📍 North Side of the Yellowstone River
This shaded riverwalk is a quiet escape from the summer heat. Think cottonwood trees, deer sightings, and the sound of the river flowing nearby. Easy, accessible, and full of charm.
8. Norm Schoenthal Island
📍 Across from Riverfront Park
A gorgeous nature area with interpretive signs and wide, flat trails that wind through wetlands, trees, and riverside paths. Family-friendly, stroller-friendly, and perfect for a relaxed day outdoors.

📍 South Billings
You can make your own adventure here! Mix and match trails along the Yellowstone River with plenty of stops for photos, fishing, or a quiet sit on a bench. Sunset strolls here? YES please.
