Thinking about selling your home in Billings? One of the best ways to make a strong first impression—and avoid surprises during the buyer’s inspection—is to take care of repairs before your home hits the market.
Whether you've done a pre-market inspection or just know that your dishwasher has been broken since 2018, now is the time to fix it. Tackling repairs early can prevent deals from falling apart later and help your home sell faster (and possibly for more).
Here’s a handy checklist I give to every seller to help get their home in top showing shape:
Fix any broken appliances (yes, even the ones you’ve been ignoring!)
Hire a pro to service and clean the furnace and AC unit
Make sure all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are tested and working
Touch up interior paint, especially high-traffic areas
Re-caulk around showers and tubs
Replace any outdated cabinet hardware in the kitchen and bathrooms
Steam clean carpets (hire a pro like Stanley Steemer)
Ensure all light bulbs are working and using the highest safe wattage
Repair any broken window screens (your local Ace Hardware can help)
Make sure downspouts are draining properly and not damaged
Repair or replace missing or broken roof shingles
If you have a chimney: have it professionally swept, add a rain cap, and fix any loose brickwork
